Abstract

There is no legal ban on practicing dynastic politics as long as it is done in accordance with existing legal rules. Following the Constitutional, there is now more room for the practice of dynasty politics. The ruling is also seen as lawful in terms of the execution of dynastic political practices in Indonesia. The practice of dynastic politics has resulted in polemics among the society and academics over time. This is because there are people who believe that dynastic political practice does not harm democracy, but with the legitimacy of dynastic political practice, it undoubtedly becomes a guarantee of human rights. There are also many who believe that dynastic politics has a negative  impact  on  the  evolution  of  democracy.  The  purpose  of  this  research  is  to  give information about the impact of dynastic politics on democracy. The author's research approach in this study is a normative research method. The study of literature, books, journals, papers, and laws and regulations connected to the research issue was employed to acquire data for this study. In a democratic society, particularly in Indonesia, dynasty politics has been practiced for a long time and is a legacy of the new order regime. In some parts of Indonesia, the rise of dynasty politics has been fast. The practice of dynasty politics has sparked much debate since it is thought to stymie the community's mobility in participating in the Regional Head General Election stage. Furthermore, dynastic politics has the ability to corrupt rulers or incumbents by boosting the interests and persistence of their political power through their family and relatives. This is due to the community's lack of influence over the election-holding process. This is undoubtedly a critical highlight for every community in monitoring the evolution of dynastic political practice. As a result, it is thought critical to apply the notion of checks and balances between the government and the community to ensure the continuance of the contestation of the leadership change.
